An evening with Edith Piaf's songs.

An evening with Edith Piaf’s songs

Many Francophones and Francophiles are familiar with Edith Piaf’s songs, but during this session, participants will achieve three goals:
1. Listening to her most famous songs.
2. Reading and understanding these songs. All French texts will be available through handouts and a translation will be provided for those who need it.
3. Singing!!!! There is nothing like singing Edith Piaf in the middle of a Michigan winter.

Knowledge of French is not required.
Refreshments will be provided and fun guaranteed!

I am French and a teacher of French with years of experience. I am a big fan of classic French chansons and singers. Piaf is only one of them. I am thinking of organizing many other evenings with singers like Brassens, Barbara, Ferré, etc... Singing their songs is energizing and tons of fun as well.

French teacher of French who love to share with others cultural topics from the francophone world.

Suzanne Murray spent 32 years working at the Earle. It was there that her interest in all things culinarily Italian and French were nurtured. A year in Paris solidified her leanings. Twenty years of teaching high school opened the door to Spanish and she now dwells on the three languages and is obsessed with etymologies. To keep her hands busy, she and her partner bake and sell baguettes, brioche and madeleines.

Music, literature, and art have always been at the center of my inner life.A retired speech pathologist, I teach poetry appreciation to elders, paint, and indulge my fondness for the French language.
